Essential Business Skills

 

The Essential Business Skills training program has been offered since 1998. It is a 14 week program designed to cater to those individuals reentering the work force with little or no exposure to Computer Business Applications and Customer Service practices.  This program equips student with marketable skills and empowers them with technical competencies.  Because of the integral role the Internet now plays in the research, marketing and  communications aspects of all companies, Internet training is of tremendous importance in the education those participants wishing to enter in an office environment of any type, regardless of their professional careers.  

The syllabus includes interpersonal effectiveness and human relations and 10 weeks of computer, internet and business applications. This course is appropriate for those who seek clerical or service oriented occupations or further post secondary goals.  Individuals will gain confidence and direction necessary to assert themselves into self-directed career opportunities.  All students receive individual assistance and assessment, evaluated carefully and often, to ensure steady progress through a customized course of study including some or all of the following components: 

CORE PROGRAM 

Computer Business Applications- Microsoft Office for Professionals (10 weeks)

Customer Service/Interpersonal/Human Relations

Designed to provide the student with the skills and esteem to improve communication skills, personal presentation: creating a positive self image, improve the inner critic, assertiveness, customer relations, handle difficult situations,  encourage customer retention, confidentiality, and working with various business machines for today's competitive job market.  The program emphasizes the following skills: Communication skills, Personal Presentation, Teamwork, Time Management, Telephone etiquette, and Conflict Resolution.  Effective interpersonal communications in the workplace once strongly developed prior to job attainment, will act to mitigate the compounded stresses involved in job transition.  You may wish to augment this program by selecting a placement service to transport learning to an actual work setting where the student can put into practice what she or he has learned.
