Educational Consulting Services
This outcome-based service provides independent academic assessments and individual programming plans for individuals that require English and Math upgrading. Programs are customized to obtain personal, educational and/or vocational goals. The program, delivered in association with the Waterloo and Wellington County Board of Education since 1997and Hamilton Wentworth School Board since 2004, offers basic skill development and/or credit courses towards a certain grade level, High School Diploma or GED (General Educational Development) or preparation for post secondary studies.
Learning occurs in a small classroom setting with a qualified Instructor who facilitates learning. Seating in the classroom resembles a boardroom in order to reflect the workplace. Essential workplace topics and changes within the global economy are part of the course outline.
COMPONENTS
Academic Assessment
Assess skill levels in math, reading comprehension, grammar, spelling and writing
Provides details of projected program costs and time frames
Results quickly reported following one or two afternoon sessions
Following an Initial Assessment, the participant may take part in:
General reading and writing in order to cope with the demands at work and in life
Developing verbal communication skills and interpersonal/problem-solving skills with a group framework or individually
Academic upgrading that will enable the successful completion of entrance testing, completion of grade 12 or the commencement of a post secondary program
Computer literacy training
LENGTH
Because each participant has different needs and goals, the length of the program is not fixed. Continuous intake for half day programs is available. The targeted completion dates will be determined during the initial assessment and an individual timeline will be created. Daily homework is expected to augment the program.

Objective: 4 Themes are offered:
Essential Skills Development towards a specific vocation
Basic upgrading to level 8, 10, or High School Diploma
Preparation for General Educational Development (GED Certificate)
High School Diploma

SUCCESS STATISTICS
Since April 1, 2004 ending March 31, 2006 and based on fully completed Individual Program Plans (IPP):
92% successfully completed outlined IPP and educational objectives
2% were unsuccessful (due to medical reasons)
Of the successfully completed IPP's, 2% required timeline extensions
